This module aims to increase learner’s knowledge and confidence in the safe and effective use of an intravenous insulin infusion (III). It is aimed at medical and nursing staff providing care for adults on an III. The course is also relevant for medical students and pharmacists who will learn about the important aspects of caring for people on an III.

On completion, learners will be able to recognise the common errors associated with the use of an intravenous insulin infusion and demonstrate an understanding of the principles of prescribing, preparing and proactive on-going management of an intravenous insulin infusion.
