Level 1 Food Safety and Hygiene training from Virtual College is an online self-study course that is designed to help you get a better understanding of food safety around the home. *Level 1 Food Safety and Hygiene is not suitable training for those working with food, whether paid or voluntary*.
You can access the course 24/7 by logging in using a username and password, which are supplied immediately to you via email when you purchase the course. After receiving your login details, you will have access to the training for 12 months, so there is no pressure to complete the course in a hurry.
On completion of this course you will have an understanding of:
- The main risks to food safety associated with handling food
- The threat of contamination and how to keep food safe
- How to maintain high standards of personal hygiene
- The importance of cleaning in catering premises
On average people take between 1 and 2 hours to complete the training material, depending on your individual learning speed. An advantage of e-learning is that unlike a classroom session, you can complete the training at your own pace. At the end of the course you will complete a short assessment to ensure you have understood the training.
Upon successfully passing the assessment you will be able to print your own Virtual College certificate.
If you are purchasing more than 10 courses, you will automatically be allocated a discount of 10% at the checkout process. If you are buying courses for a large number of people, or you are interested in more than just Food Hygiene Training, call the Virtual College support team, who will be happy to offer advice on our free learner tracking, our Learning Management System, and discounts of up to 90% on some of our 200+ courses.
How it works
Completing an e-learning course is simple. Just click ‘Buy Now’ and add your course(s) to the basket. You will be asked to register your details and pay for the course using our secure checkout.
You can purchase for yourself and/or other learners. After making your payment and entering learner information, login details will be emailed to you automatically and training can begin straightaway - just follow the link in the email and you’ll be taken to the Virtual College Learning Management System (LMS). If you have bought courses for more than 10 learners, you will need to set up your free monitor login. If you require additional assistance, just call our friendly support team on 01943 885095 between 8:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.
The Learning Management System (LMS) automatically tracks your learner progress, so if you need to stop for any reason, just log back in when it suits you and you can start from where you left off. If you’re tracking multiple learners, you can see how much of the course they have completed at a glance.
When you have finished the training material, the Learning Management System (LMS) will allow you to complete your assessment; you can start the assessment straightaway or wait until a time that suits you. The required pass mark is 75% but don’t worry, if you don’t pass first time you can review the course and try again at no additional cost.
After completing the short assessment, your certificate will be available instantly for you to print in the Learning Management System (LMS).
